Fragile Crossings

This painting was a lot of fun to make because the tree and the bridge were made with dyed newspaper, so they have a different texture than the rest of the painting. I wanted the bridge to look fragile, like it’s going to fall apart once the anchor drops. The face in the background could represent anything. I see the face as a vague figure used to represent humanity, and crossing the bridge is a representation of what it means to live life. Being alive is risky, every step of the way, and as the anchor falls, you run out of time rapidly.
